June 7th – 8th Update
Wednesday, June 7th and Thursday, June 8th, 2023:
- Dredge America will be transferring sections of the pipeline from the old South Shore parking lot to the northern portion of the lake along the east side of the existing pipeline in the lake. They will install additional pipeline sections from the booster pump in the middle of the lake, running north to where the dredge boat will begin its work.Â
- Please avoid boating on the entire eastern portion of the lake east of the floating pipeline if possible to avoid ongoing work activities conducted by Dredge America during these days. If you must access the east side of the pipeline, please do so at no wake and proceed with caution to avoid collisions with Dredge America work activities.
- The northern pipe crossing, as shown on the boating safety map, will be installed and operational by the end of the day on Thursday, June 8, 2023. Look for the green markers/buoys on each side and proceed cautiously through crossings at no wake.
Friday, June 9th, 2023:
- Dredging activities in the northern section of the lake will begin for the year and continue 7 days a week from 7 am to 7 pm. Please stay at least 200’ away from the Dredge boat, pipeline, booster pumps, and any other equipment the contractor uses.
General Safety Announcement:
- Dredge America has observed an increasingly large amount of jet ski operators jumping the pipeline with jet skis. This is not allowed and is very dangerous to the jet ski operators, the nearby boating public, and the dredging operations that could cause severe injuries and delays to the project. We have notified the CLPD and the IDNR officers who patrol the lake, and they will be pulling over operators who are not following the safety guidelines.
