3/18/2025 Update
Coliform sampling will commence on the Robins Nest water system. The wells (source water) will be tested first. Once the well samples pass, then the distribution system will be tested. The boil advisory will be lifted only once all samples pass. Coliform positive samples will require re-testing, which will delay the boil advisory being lifted.Â

3/14/2025 Update
Pressures are back to normal operating levels. The new equipment is being operated manually until full programming is achieved. Samples to lift the boil advisory will not be drawn until the new equipment is fully functional. A lot of variables exist with this timeline. The best-estimated timeline for drawing samples would be sometime around 3-19-2025. We will post daily updates on weekdays until the boil advisory is lifted. This timeline and course of action were discussed with IDEM, and they concur. Please get in touch with the water department with any questions at 1-219-374-7478 – prompt 8 for Public Works.
3/10/2025 UPDATE
The upgrades to the Robins Nest water system are taking longer than anticipated. The boil advisory will remain in effect until further notice. Lower pressures, fluctuating pressures, discoloration, and “well water” smells are a continued expectation until project completion. (Click here to learn more about what to do for an advisory).
The affected areas include Robins Nest, Lakeside, and Krystal Oaks neighborhoods. Other affected users include Luke’s gas station, Franciscan on 133rd Ave, Faith Church, and MacArthur School.
