Golf Carts
The operation of Golf Carts on public streets, roads, and alleys is permitted under Town Code.Â
Below is a brief summary of these regulations. For detailed information, please review the Town Code regarding Regulations and Restrictions.
1. Only a licensed driver under Indiana Law may operate a golf cart on public streets, roads, and alleys.
2. Golf Carts operated on public streets, roads, and alleys must be registered with the Town of Cedar Lake and display a valid registration sticker.
Registration forms can be located on the Town Forms page. Completed Registration Forms are to be submitted to the Police Department along with your registration fee of $10.00 and your proof of insurance. You will then be provided a registration sticker.
3. Proof of insurance is required upon registration and must be kept in the golf cart at all times during operation.
4. A “Slow Moving Vehicle Emblem” and/or a red or amber flashing light must be displayed at all times.
5. Golf Carts operated after dusk and before dawn must be equipped with headlights, taillights, and turn signals.
