Job Location:              Cedar Lake Public Works, 8550 Lake Shore Drive, Cedar Lake, IN 46303

Compensation:           This position is entry-level with a starting hourly rate of $18.00.

Job Summary:

The Water Utility Crew Worker is responsible for performing daily duties including but not limit to daily testing, meter reading, customer inquiries, as well as routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, including pumps, valves, and chemical feed systems. Responsibilities include monitoring water treatment processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license, with CDL endorsement or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation of water treatment components
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply policies and procedures
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment used in the water treatment process
  • Ability to perform, analyze, and interpret laboratory tests
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal with people at all levels
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

Compensation:            This position has a maximum hourly rate of $29.95. The rate for this position will be commensurate with education and experience.

Job Summary:
The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel-powered automotive stock, heavy equipment, and related components. The Mechanic will perform skilled tasks in mechanical repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks, tractors, fire fighting equipment, front end load, and other standard and specialized automotive and construction equipment.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Vocational school experience or a combination of experience and training
  • Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license, with CDL endorsement or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire
Skills & Knowledge
  • Performs repair work on automotives, light and heavy trucks, gasoline and diesel motors, street sweeper, front end loader, generators, and small engine repairs
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems on vehicles and equipment
  • Performs complete mechanical and electrical repairs, inspections, adjusting, repair, or replacement of necessary parts related to cooling, lubrication, fuel, brakes, ignition, and exhaust systems
  • Must become familiar with trouble shooting and repairing police and fire/rescue equipment used in Public Safety vehicles including emergency lights, sirens, radars, camera systems and radios
  • Maintain all tools and equipment used
  • Maintain appearance and safety of mechanic work area by cleaning and organizing tools and equipment
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, complete administrative tasks, as well as possess written and verbal communication skills
  • Will assist other departments as directed

2. Grassroots Referee Certification preferred but not required
3. Working knowledge of the rules of the game from either previous refereeing or playing experience
4. Ability to communicate effectively via e-mail, phone and in person with Recreation Coordinator as well as a diverse group of people participating at various ages
5. Knowledge of and ability to enforce and explain the rules of the game

This position requires an employee to be on their feet for a majority of their shift in different types of weather. During that time, the employee will experience different levels of exertion depending on the age level they are officiating. Police Department – Probationary Patrolman

Cedar Lake Police Department is accepting applications for Patrolman. This is an open application process for Certified Officers and non-Certified individuals.
