FreeTwice a year, the DEA holds National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on the last Saturday in April and October. National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs at locations in communities throughout the country.
The October 2020 Take Back Day brought in 985,392 pounds (492.7 tons) of medication. This is the largest amount ever collected in the program’s ten years! This brings the total amount of prescription drugs collected by DEA since the fall of 2010 to nearly 13.7 million pounds?.
Check DEA’s official Take Back Day website for more information and to find year-round collection sites near you and proper disposal. Cedar Lake Police Department is one location – open 24/7 with a convenient drop box in the lobby.Â
