Cedar Lake Alert System: PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY
0/1/2023 1:55 PM – The Boil advisory that was in effect for municipal water users, West of Cline Ave, is lifted. All samples passed.
DATE: 8-31-2023
AFFECTED AREA: West Side System (Municipal water users West of Cline Ave.) within Town Limits
The Cedar Lake Water Utility experienced a loss of pressure, which resulted in a temporary drop in high service pressure to the Town. As a result of the loss of pressure in the system dropping below 20 pounds per square inch (psi), a PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY is being issued for the above-listed area(s) until further notice. The advisory will remain in effect until water samples are collected and analyzed to confirm that the water quality has not been affected and the water is safe to drink, meeting regulatory drinking water standards and requirements. The sampling and testing process typically takes 24-48 hours or as required. While this advisory is in effect, it is recommended that customers boil tap water vigorously for at least three (3) minutes before using it for cooking, food preparation, drinking, making ice, etc. Please continue boiling all cooking and drinking water until you know it is no longer necessary. Residents and customers are requested to share this information with those who may not have received this message directly. Customers will be notified when the precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted in the same manner that this notice has been issued.
Under a precautionary boil water advisory, customers can resume normal water usage when the advisory is lifted without taking additional measures. However, if you experience cloudiness or discolored water, it is recommended that you run your faucets for a few minutes until the water runs clear. The Town apologizes for the inconvenience and requests your cooperation. If you have any questions or require further information, don’t hesitate to contact the Cedar Lake Water Department at (219) 374-7478. https://alerts.cedarlakein.org/
